Day One – Departing Tampa Bay – Phins Up
There’s just something magical about cruise day, isn’t there? That feeling when you wake up knowing an adventure is about to unfold. Day One of our tropical escape aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Islander started with sunshine, excitement, and a fresh cup of coffee—nothing says “vacation mode” like sipping your brew while heading to the port!
Valet Parking is the best!
We were especially grateful that we chose to use valet parking. It made the experience feel seamless and stress-free. We pulled right up to the cruise terminal, handed off the keys, and were off to board the ship. The whole process was fast, smooth, and without any delays. If you’re ever debating it—do it! It’s worth every penny.
Book Parking Online
I booked our parking online ahead of time. It made everything even easier upon arrival! The website offers parking options.

I can’t recommend early arrival enough. Getting there before the crowd lets you check in with ease, gives you time to tour the ship, and soak up that vacation energy before things get busy.

Margaritaville At Sea knows how to get the mood going, for sure. The Flip Flop bar flowed with drinks, and the music was tropical to set the mood. Everyone I saw had a smile on their face while entering the ship and seeing the beautiful decor, with giant birds hanging in the center and glass elevators going up and down, taking guests to each of the 9 decks.

We grabbed tropical cocktails (hello, margarita!) and explored every deck wonderfully. The ship’s vibe was pure island bliss—beautiful décor, bright colors, and island music that made you want to dance from bow to stern.
Everyone around us wore big smiles and had that unmistakable “I’m on vacation!” sparkle. One of the highlights was seeing the giant flip-flop photo op near the center of the ship—yes, I absolutely had to get a photo in front of it! It’s a must-do moment.

Do Not Miss the Sail Away Party
While staterooms weren’t quite ready when we boarded, that didn’t stop the fun. Thanks to the valet service, our bags were taken care of and on their way to the room. One bag arrived a little later than the others, but no worries—it made it just in time for us to put on our “Phins Up” hats and head to the Sail Away Party!
Let me tell you, those hats were a hit—we got compliments and high-fives all around!

The Islander – Margaritaville At Sea
The ship itself is a tropical dream. From the massive hanging birds to the stunning glass elevators gliding up and down through the ship’s nine decks, every detail screamed paradise. The vibe was relaxed but festive, with guests from all walks of life ready to have the time of their lives.
Our Breezy Balcony Stateroom was the perfect retreat. As soon as we checked in, we opened the sliding door to our private balcony and just stood there, soaking it all in—the sound of the waves, the sea breeze, and the excitement of the journey ahead.
Sailing under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was such a special moment. Everyone gathered to wave goodbye to Tampa as the skyline faded into the distance. Something is soul-soothing about watching land disappear and knowing you’re headed toward adventure, relaxation, and maybe even a little mischief.
Dinner that night was phenomenal. We opted for a sit-down meal with island-inspired dishes and a key lime pie that I’ll be dreaming about for weeks. Afterward, we explored the ship’s entertainment options, including a lively musical show, buzzing bars, and some classic karaoke that had everyone clapping along.
By the time we returned to our stateroom, the stars were shining and the balcony breeze was just right. We curled up under the night sky, grateful for a perfect start to what promises to be an unforgettable journey.
Stay tuned—Progreso is up next, and I can already feel the warm sand calling my name!
